New Volunteer Requirements effective 2024-2025 school year

At Kid Street Charter School, we continue to prioritize student safety and improve our procedures for processing and clearing volunteers.  We are making some enhancements to Kid Street's volunteer clearance process via our volunteer management system, Voluntas, effective for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.

We are providing this information to all current Kid Street parents and caregivers, regardless of whether you have been previously cleared.

This includes:

·         General School Volunteers

·         Field Trip Chaperones

·         Field Trip Drivers

·         Reading Tutors/Volunteers

·         After School Volunteers/Interns (including those under 18).

The following three (3) changes will be part of the approval process for the 2024-2025 school year:

-Volunteers at both levels will now be required to provide proof of Tuberculosis (TB) clearance every four (4) years.  If you have proof of TB clearance within the last four (4) years, that is acceptable to meet this requirement:

·         Please consult directly with your medical provider to find out information about what TB test option is best for you

·         TB Risk Assessment form (Needs to be completed by medical provider)

·         You can also locate community providers for testing if you don't have access to your own medical provider.

-All volunteers will now be required to complete Mandated Reporter training annually (takes approximately 40 minutes to complete).

-All Volunteers will be required to background checks and FBI Clearance via Fingerprinting. Fingerprinting costs vary, but they typically cost about $45.

Once you have completed the necessary steps to volunteer, Voluntas will notify us that you are cleared to Volunteer, this includes driving for field trips.

We value your support and willingness to volunteer at Kid Street Charter School, and we thank you for your shared commitment to the success and safety of all students. Please reach out to Angel Gray, Office Manager, at angeld@kstreet.org with any additional questions.

PROCESS FOR SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

Adults who wish to volunteer on a school campus, drive and/or chaperone a day and/or overnight field trip and/or event need to apply through the Volunteer Management System (VMS).  The VMS is a web-based software application that allows the District and all schools to better track and provide the appropriate level of clearance for school volunteers.

Kid Street has partnered with Voluntas, to support the online registration and screening process of school volunteers.

The VMS includes volunteer clearance and tracking.  During the online application process, you will be asked to choose your volunteer position based on your anticipated involvement. You may choose multiple areas if you plan to volunteer (but your clearance will be cleared for all areas with the same application). Fingerprinting costs vary, but they typically cost about $45.

To get started, CLICK HERE to create your Voluntas account and apply to become a volunteer.
